2022 Otto
Otto - (Grenache/Mataro/Cabernet). Here we see a yin-yang style blend between the pretty, red cherry/ raspberry floral whole bunch Grenache with some more gnarly whole berry Mataro & crunchy whole berry Cabernet. Grenache & Mataro are both certified organic/biodynamic off Alkina Vineyards, Cabernet is grown in a lo-fi manner by a good friend.
Love the balance between prettiness & crunch, makes for a wine layered with fun, and keeps you coming back.
Greenock Organic Grenache and Mataro alongside a small portion of Valley Floor Cabernet Sauvignon. All ferments were treated with minimal punchdowns and the Grenache sees a large portion whole bunch.
The resulting wine has bright floral aromatics from the Grenache whole bunch ferment, met with some gnarl and crunch from the Mataro, and the small Cabernet component provides great lift and roundness to the wine.

“In the winery, we hand-tend to every ferment. Every ferment is small. We basket press all wines. We use old oak and let our red wines go through natural malolactic fermentation. All of our red wines stay on lees until just prior to bottling, usually just prior to summer in the same year. We bottle, cork, hand label and wax every bottle ourselves. True control from vine to glass and a true labour of love. We do not add sulphur, bar a touch pre-bottling. The resulting wines are light, naturally balanced and what we love to drink.”
