'Willowlake' 2020 Yarra Valley Chardonnay is available to buy in increments of 12
‘Nutty and saline, pink grapefruit and green pear, some citrus zest and cinnamon quill, with just a little struck match. It’s savoury and hazelnutty, something of a sake-like umami flavour, flinty too, with a subtle buttery gloss, and again that brine-laced flavour on a finish of fine grip and length. It’s distinctive and very good. Almost a little bit of Jura about it, which will no doubt hold great appeal for some.’

Upper Yarra Valley Chardonnay from the highly esteemed Willowlake Vineyard (Gladysdale), a gentle North facing slope grown on grey volcanic soils. Hand picked in late February, fruit was gently pressed to tank to settle for 24 hours. Following a light racking, juice is naturally fermented in a close to 100% neutral French barriques. Rested on fine lees for 9 months with MLF naturally occurring in most barrels. No additions beyond sulfur.
